Realtors® Care Day brings out Realtor Volunteers®, Making Critical Home Repairs and Undertaking Community Projects in Mecklenburg County

What:    Realtors® Care Day (RCD), an initiative of Canopy Housing Foundation, is an all-day home-repair project designed to help a diverse group of homeowners with critical, but often unaffordable, exterior home repairs and necessary adaptive and safety modifications in Mecklenburg, Iredell and Haywood Counties.

Like previous years, the RCD project will include a community project in Mecklenburg County, at FAVOR Ministries.  FAVOR or Fathers Against Violence and Repeat-Offenders, Inc) works to restore the lives of homeless veterans and previously incarcerated men by offering housing, education, job referrals, spiritual mentorship and life skills to their clients, helping to empower and equip them as they are released back into society.

The Young Professionals Network of Realtor® volunteers are also conducting a Food Drive in support of our communities. In Mecklenburg County, food donations will support the Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina. Food donations can be dropped at the Canopy Building, located at 1120 Pearl Park Way, Charlotte, NC 28202 on April 19 from
8:30 a.m.- 4 p.m.

Who:    The 2024 event will include more than 350 Realtor® volunteers working on Fri., April 19 from 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m., at 13 locations in Mecklenburg Counties.

Canopy Housing Foundation leaders, Habitat nonprofit partners, and Realtor® volunteers will be available for media interviews.

Realtor® Volunteers will “Rock the Block” in this Habitat event, working between eight homes in the Wilson Woods neighborhood in Mint Hill, NC

Realtor® Volunteers will stain fence, pressure wash front of house, dissemble shed and discard, install shutters, and replace rotted boards on deck

Community Site: FAVAR 10612 Walkers Ferry Rd., Charlotte, NC 28278 Volunteers will be painting the group home.

Since 2009, thousands of Realtor® volunteers equipped with hammers and nails, and armed with a passion to give back, have collaborated in the all-hands-on-deck event that brings together city/county leadership, housing nonprofit partners, contractors, home inspectors and touches the lives of homeowners across Mecklenburg, Iredell, and Haywood counties.
