Humanity in Housing Starts Here
Across Mecklenburg, Iredell, and Haywood counties, children and families face housing challenges no one should have to experience—uncertainty about where they will sleep, whether they will have food on the table, or how long they can stay in their homes.
Through the support of donors and community partners, the Canopy Housing Foundation works to change those stories.
Every year, we provide grants to trusted nonprofit partners who are on the front lines of housing stability—helping families transition out of homelessness, preventing eviction, and ensuring basic needs like meals, furniture, and safe shelter are available when they are needed most.
The stories below show how those grants make a real difference in the lives of children in our region. Abby in Mecklenburg County, Jacob in Haywood County, and Susie in Iredell County each faced housing uncertainty—but with the help of our partners and supporters like you, their stories began to change.
A gift of $35 can help ensure another child experiences the safety, stability, and dignity that comes from having a place to call home.
Humanity in housing starts here—and it starts with you.
A Seat at the Table for Abby
Not long ago, a young girl named Abby living in Charlotte faced challenges no child should endure: the constant uncertainty of where she would sleep or where her next meal would come from.
Everything changed when the Canopy Housing Foundation stepped in. Through a $5,000 grant to our partner, Beds for Kids, we provided kitchen tables and chairs for 20 families transitioning out of homelessness—including Abby’s.
Today, Abby isn’t just “housed.” Her family gathers every night around their own table to share a meal, a conversation, and a sense of security.
We can’t do this work without you. Your $35 tax-deductible contribution allows the Canopy Housing Foundation to fund vital projects across Mecklenburg, Iredell, and Haywood counties. Last year alone, we awarded over $100,000 to address unmet housing needs.
Will you give $35 today to help another child like Abby find their way home?

A Home for Jacob
Not long ago, a young boy named Jacob living in Waynesville faced challenges no child should endure: the constant uncertainty of where he would sleep, where his family would move to next or where his next meal would come from.
Everything changed when the Canopy Housing Foundation stepped in. Through a $5,000 grant to our partner, Mountain Projects, we provided emergency housing and utility assistance to prevent eviction and homelessness for 10-18 low-income households in Haywood County—including Jacob and his family.
Today, Jacob isn’t just “housed.” His family gathers every night in their own warm apartment to share a meal, a conversation, and a sense of security.

A Warm Meal for Susie
Not long ago, a young girl named Susie living in Statesville faced challenges no child should endure: the constant uncertainty of where she would sleep or where her next meal would come from.
Everything changed when the Canopy Housing Foundation stepped in. Through a $4,500 grant to our partner, Fifth Street Ministries, we assisted them in providing 3,000 meals at the organization’s homeless shelter at a cost of $1.50 per person—and those served included Susie and her family.
Today, Susie isn’t just “housed or fed.” Her family is ensured that every night they get to share a meal, a conversation, and a sense of security.
