Innovation Award Mentor – Fontella McKyer

Fontella McKyer is the Director of Workforce Development at SchermCo, bringing over two decades of experience in nonprofit management, philanthropy, community engagement, and program development.

Before joining ShermCo in April 2024, she held a pivotal role at Dress for Success Charlotte, where she spearheaded the development, execution, and evaluation of workforce development programs. Throughout her career, Fontella has been committed to empowering individuals facing barriers to employment, highlighting her dedication to social impact. As the former Assistant Vice President of Client Services at Foundation For The Carolinas, she managed high-net-worth philanthropic client accounts, including nonprofit endowments, family foundations, and corporate giving programs.

Active in her community, Fontella serves as an At-Large Member of the North Carolina Council for Women and sits on the Board of Directors for Sanctuary Counseling Group. She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Lamar University in Beaumont, TX, as well as a Doctorate in Biblical Psychology and a Master’s Degree in Theology and Religious Studies from Hope Bible Institute in Baton Rouge, LA.
